How to Factory Reset (Wipe) Your iPad

Step 1: Sign out of iCloud / Apple ID

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap your name at the top (Apple ID banner).

  3. Scroll down and tap Sign Out.

  4. Enter your Apple ID password and confirm.

  5. If prompted, choose whether to keep a copy of your data (you can skip this if you’re wiping it).

Step 2: Erase All Content and Settings

  1. Go to Settings > General.

  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Transfer or Reset iPad.

  3. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.

  4. If you have Screen Time or passcode enabled, enter it when prompted.

  5. Confirm you want to erase the iPad.

  6. Wait while the device erases and reboots.

Step 3: iPad Will Restart

  • After erasing, your iPad will restart and show the "Hello" setup screen, just like a brand-new iPad.
